From 2024: Transport with electric vans
In 2024, the Public Institute Triglav National Park, in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, handed over five electric vans for free use to five park municipalities: Tolmin, Kobarid, Bovec, Kranjska Gora, and Bohinj. This has improved mobility for residents and taken a step forward in reducing traffic within the protected area.

The purchase of electric vans, financed through the Climate Fund as a pilot project in the international Alpine area, contributes to climate change mitigation. All five vehicles support sustainable mobility while also improving the quality of life for residents of Triglav National Park.
The vans are primarily intended for free transport of local residents, while in the summer season they also carry park visitors and tourists, helping to reinforce the public transport network when needed. You can read more about the handover of the vans to local communities in March 2024 HERE.
Important investment in local mobility
The five electric vehicles provide free transport for residents who live in the park and need to travel to medical appointments and similar errands. Most importantly, the vans transport children from park municipalities and remote areas of the park to afternoon activities. While attending such activities is often taken for granted in urban areas—where children can usually walk or use public transport—in rural areas, longer distances make participation significantly more challenging for families.
“My sons take the e-van once a week to training. That day they are independent, and I don’t have to worry—I can do other things and I’m not a driver in the afternoon. We use the service every week,” said Polona Kos from Koritnica.
Valerija Kutin from Čadrg adds: “When my children started primary school, I had to drive to Tolmin every day to pick them up and bring them home from school, sometimes even twice or more per day. If I wanted to do work on the farm or cook lunch for the family in the meantime, it was difficult—the driving took a lot of time. Now it’s much easier; I can focus on longer tasks on the farm, knowing the children will come home by van. We are very grateful for the Triglav National Park van service and the transport of children from school.”

Support for sustainable visiting and development
As mentioned, during summer and public holidays the vans are also used for transporting park visitors and tourists, helping to supplement public transport routes when necessary. While transport is free for residents of park municipalities, tourists pay a small fee for rides with the electric vehicles. In 2025, when access to the Vrata Valley was restricted, 60,000 tourists were transported to the Peričnik Waterfall using public transport; of these, the electric van operating in Kranjska Gora transported 11,000 people.
In the 2024/25 school year, the electric vans completed 5,225 rides, the most in Kobarid (1,746), followed by Tolmin (1,310) and Bohinj (1,206). The fewest rides were recorded in Bovec (963), where children often travel the longest distances—e.g., from Trenta or Log pod Mangartom to Tolmin.
Finally, one more figure: from the beginning of 2025 to the end of May 2026, the five electric vans completed more than 10,000 free rides.
The purchase of the electric vans was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning. The vehicles were funded by the Climate Change Fund.

When your reservation is confirmed, the estimated time will be displayed. This may change slightly up to an hour and a half before departure, but always in a way that ensures you’ll arrive on time. This adjustment allows us to also pick up your colleagues who booked after you.
There’s too much clicking—is there no other way?
You can mark the addresses you travel to regularly as “favorites”—this will make booking faster and ensure accuracy.

The system allows you to add up to 8 passengers per reservation. If you’re heading to the activity with a friend from your town, you can make a single reservation for both of you. The vans will then pick you up at the same address and travel together.

During the school year, transportation services in the Posočje region are provided exclusively for children.
