Savica Waterfall
Savica Waterfall is one of Slovenia's most famous waterfalls. A total of 553 steps lead to the viewpoint, where you can admire the waterfall as it thunders down near Lake Bohinj.
Water then plunges 78 meters in two A-shaped streams into a green basin beneath the mighty Komarča cliff.
The unique twin-stream cascade and the raw power of nature create an unforgettable spectacle. The waterfall is at its most impressive during periods of high water flow, which occur most often in spring and autumn.
Slovenia's greatest poet, France Prešeren, described the Savica Waterfall in his poem »The Baptism on the Savica«.
A trail leads to the waterfall - a natural landmark - from the parking lot next to the Savica Hut. From there, a well-marked trail with 553 stone steps takes you up to the waterfall in 20 to 25 minutes. Due to the large number of steps, the trail is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.

In the natural environment, you may encounter falling rocks and trees, slippery and uneven terrain, sudden changes in weather, high water levels and wild animals. The park authority maintains trails within the scope of its responsibilities and available resources but cannot guarantee your safety. Visitors are responsible for adapting their plans to the weather and trail conditions, choosing trails suited to their abilities, using appropriate equipment, staying on marked trails and acting responsibly.
