Screenings of films on pastoralism in Trenta

In front of Triglav National Park Information Centre Dom Trenta, under the stars, we will screen two films: Images from Trenta Valley by Naško Križnar and My Summer Holiday by Petra Seliškar.

The short film Images from Trenta Valley documents sheep farming and everyday life in Trenta in 1989. It portrays scenes from the pastoral year—from winter preparations to summer mountain grazing, weighing day, and milking at the Za Depjem alpine pasture, as well as other aspects of daily life, including haymaking, cheese production, and the preparation of traditional doughnuts (krafi).

My Summer Holiday follows three brothers who still spend their summers as shepherds high in the mountains of North Macedonia. Accompanied by their sheepdogs, they navigate the challenges of growing up, work, and everyday life. The film reveals a story of family bonds, tradition, and the search for one's own path in the modern world.

Before the screenings, there will be a conversation with the filmmakers. In addition to discussing the stories presented in the films, the discussion will address current challenges facing pastoralism, particularly in relation to wildlife.
