Cinema under the Triglav

You are invited to Cinema under the Triglav, organized by the Local Community Stara Fužina – Studor, Tourism Bohinj, and the Triglav National Park. Free summer open-air film nights will take place in the village center of Stara Fužina on five Thursday evenings in July and August: July 3, 10, and 17, and August 14 and 21, each starting at 9:00 PM. In case of rain, the screenings will be held at the Cultural Hall Stara Fužina.

The Fierce Queen of the Night

The film reveals the life of the mysterious Ural owl – one of Europe’s largest owls. It presents rare footage from her everyday life: hunting, raising chicks, and her aggressive behavior during nesting season. The story is enriched by insights into scientific research of the species, featuring biologist Dr. Al Vrezec, one of the leading experts on the Ural owl.

Triglav with the Aljaž Tower is a unique landscape symbol and irreplaceable emblem of Slovenia. Due to its cultural, scenic, historical, and other exceptional qualities, it holds special significance for the Republic of Slovenia.
Who built it, how was it maintained, and what is its story and meaning? What does it represent to Slovenians today, and how can we preserve it? These are the questions explored in this documentary, which follows a team of conservators as they prepare plans to reconstruct the Aljaž Tower.

Kekec

The black-and-white youth film Kekec from 1951 is the first Slovenian film to win an international award and remains one of the most iconic films of Slovenian and Yugoslav cinema. Based on the story Kekec Above the Lonely Abyss by Josip Vandot, it was followed by two sequels (1963 and 1968). Kekec is a priceless part of Slovenian cultural heritage and cinematic art. It has recently been restored.

 

The story follows brave young Kekec, who sets out to confront Bedanec, a man feared by all for his cruelty, and force him to leave their land forever.

Playing on the beach helps him forget the quarrels of his divorced parents, who, caught up in their busy lives, fail to notice how quickly their son is growing up. Only old Luka, a former sailor, seems to understand Tomaž’s troubles. He gives him a shell – and every time Tomaž listens to its whispering...
