After its annual “winter sleep,” the Trenta Valley awakens in spring with longer days, melting snow on the mountain peaks, and the arrival of the summer visitor season. This year’s opening will be marked by a new photography exhibition by Dan Briški, Julian Alps, and a concert featuring no fewer than three vocal ensembles: Coro “Li Muris” from Venzone, the Trenta Vocal Group, and the Triglav Trenta Men’s Choir.
More about the exhibition JULIAN ALPS:
Dan Briški is a photographer of mountain landscapes and, as a mountaineer, a great admirer of the Julian Alps in all their cross-border expanse. He is especially fond of the Trenta Valley and the peaks surrounding it.
Last year in Morocco, UNESCO awarded the Julian Alps the distinguished title of the Julian Alps Transboundary Biosphere Reserve. Its core areas are Triglav National Park on the Slovenian side and the Julian Prealps Natural Park in Italy.
To celebrate this cross-border recognition—that nature and its protection know no boundaries—Dan Briški selected photographs from his extensive body of work for this remarkable exhibition, aiming to capture and present the Julian Alps as a unified mountain range.
The exhibition invites visitors to admire, explore, and truly recognize a priceless natural wealth, while reminding us of our responsibility toward our shared mountain heritage.
More about the concert:
Singing is deeply rooted in the Trenta Valley, where a rich choral tradition has been alive for more than half a century.
The Trenta Vocal Group, consisting of seven singers, has been preserving this musical heritage since 2023. Their repertoire mainly includes arrangements of Slovenian folk songs, along with works by international composers and sacred music. They have already performed at various local and regional events.
The Triglav Trenta Men’s Choir celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022. Its beginnings date back to 1971, with official activity starting in 1972 under the leadership of the late professor and composer Dane Škerl, who led the choir for thirty years. After his passing, leadership was taken over by Zdravko Kravanja, who has successfully guided the choir for over two decades. In recent years, the ensemble has been strengthened by the addition of younger singers. Their repertoire primarily preserves the tradition of national folk songs.
Coro “Li Muris” di Venzone is a mixed choir from Venzone, a town within the Julian Prealps Natural Park. The name “Li Muris” comes from the Friulian language and means “walls,” referring to the medieval walls surrounding the historic town. The choir performs at concerts, cultural events, and choral festivals in Italy and abroad, with a repertoire that includes sacred music and Friulian folk songs.
