On the map below you can see the count data by count sites in Triglav National Park. You can get information about the counted crossings by clicking on the icons on the map and More information.
*Counters that have automatic data transmission send this data on a daily basis. Other counters, without automatic data transmission, show data at different intervals in retrospect. For these counters, yesterday's visit is therefore not shown.
The Triglav National Park Public Institution systematically counts visitors in the park area using automatic passive infrared light sensors, which record visitors' passage based on the sensing of body heat radiation.
The counting locations are the Triglav and Triglav Lakes Valley, the main natural attractions and trails in the Alpine valleys. Due to the limited number of counters, the counting locations have changed and may change in the future.
The locations of the visitor counters also vary according to the time of year - in some locations, we count only in the summer or winter season. The remaining locations are year-round.
Counters count visitors both ways (up and down), so the actual number of visitors shown on the map above may be lower at certain sites.
In autumn 2023, daily data transmission from counters at five different locations was piloted. Currently, daily counter data transmission is activated at 10 counters. The activity represents a pilot and innovative approach to monitoring visits in the international Alpine region.
The development of the activity is closely linked to the integration of such data into spatial digital databases for professional use and for displaying or guiding visitation through digital spatial platforms for recreational activities (e.g. Outdooractive, maPZS, etc.).
In 2020, a Visitor Monitoring Methodology was also developed, which provides more information on visitor monitoring in the Triglav National Park.

As this is a pilot activity, improvements and changes may be made in the future. Due to external influences, the counters may display different figures than the actual ones. Your feedback is valuable, so please send your suggestions and comments to our email address: sara.rendulic@tnp.gov.si
